Original owner was John Hutton who purchased 122 acres in 1887 from James Hood who had obtained the grant in 1884. In 2007 the farm was owned by Charleshope Farming Company in which John's descendant Mark Hutton & his wife Liz have a financial interest.
In 2007 the property was awarded the New Zealand Century Farm and Station award to mark over 100 years of continuous ownership by one family.
