Description: Images show scenes at the Wellington District Maori Anglican Hui Aroha, Solway Showgrounds, Masterton, taken in 1961 by Ans Westra. Unless otherwise stated all persons are unidentified. Images show scenes from the Wellington District Maori Anglican Hui Aroha and consist of: - A koroua and kuia, walking together, across the showgrounds. - a group of boys in their early teens, some of the boys smoke cigarettes. - A woman, holding an infant. - A group of girls, singing and playing, on what appears to be a stage. Description: Menu card shows an illustration of a cloaked Maori elder holding a greenstone patu and standing outside a whare on the shores of a lake with hills on the far shore. The menu includes Canadian salmon, lamb cutlets, roast meats, curried prawns and Bombay Duck, apple pie and jellies, cheese omelette, various sweetmeats, and New Zealand cheddar cheese. The verso (partly illegible) shows a concert programme of music composed by Alford, Coates and others, the music directed by W Hardingham. Quantity: 1 colour photo-mechanical print(s).
