Description: Maori prisoners in the Rutland Stockade, Queen's Park, Wanganui, in 1867. They are guarded by soldiers of the 18th and 57th Imperial Regiments (with numbers on hats) and members of the Colonial Defence Force (with swords slung, see right of centre). Those wearing balaclava type head gear could be from Von Tempsky's Forest Rangers. Some of the Maori are wearing the peaked caps of the New Zealand Militia. Photograph taken by William James Harding. Information for this record is duplicated on that of 1/1-000044 (a similar photograph) on the understanding that both show the same or similar event.
