The title in pencil below the cartoon is 'Call back the provosts'. Text at the top reads 'Lack of discipline on the part of motorists and pedestrians makes Wellington one of the most difficult traffic cities in the world - Mr H.H. Stirling, of the A.A.' The cartoon shows pedestrians at a crossing being taught discipline by a military policeman who yells 'By the left - Wait for it, wait for it! - 'eft, 'ight, 'eft, 'ight, 'eft! - Squad will move to the right - Squad, HALT!' The traffic lights have the words 'Quick march' for green, 'Mark time' for orange and 'Halt' for red.
At bottom of cartoon in pencil is text reading '3 col x 4 1/4" L.N. today'.
