Description: Consist mainly of diocesan correspondence with the various mission stations in the Solomon Islands; birth, death and marriage registers from Malageti Station; also, occasional station diaries, research notes on local customs and the history of the diocese. Source of title - Transcribed Following a previous unsuccessful attempt in 1845, missionaries under the auspices of the Oceania Marist Province re-entered the Solomon Islands in 1898 and set up Apostolic Vicariates in the North and South Solomons. A Vicariate of the Western Solomons was established in 1960. After 1967 the Vicariates became known as Dioceses.
