Description: Photographic prints of workers at the New Zealand Stock Exchange in Wellington on 27 Jun 1984. Photographs taken by Mr Joe Michat. Most of the images are of a morning session on the trading floor. Some show Janet Blishen (later Ross) working as an exchange board marking operator (chalkie) and others show the male brokers. Some include Blishen's fellow chalkie Lynette Partridge. Identified people include: Murray Doyle, Chris Sadler, Peter Lynds, Viv James, Chris Renouf, Bruce McCausland, David Auton, Ru Bourke, Alphie des Tombe, Derek Wickenden, Knox Grant, John Rattray, Phil Bothamley, Toni Abraas (Office Manager), David Gillespie (Scrip? Manager), and Tracey Killalea (Trainee Chalky). Some images show a visiting group of school children in the observation booth and there are also images of the general office space. Also includes a testimonial written for Janet on her departure from the stock exchange in 1984 and newspaper clipping relating to the exchange and Blishen's job at it. Accompanying information - Eight pages of photocopies of the photographs with captions identifying the people featured, provided by Janet Ross; newspaper clippings (illustrated). November 1983 was a busy time for the exchange because of speculation in oil stocks.
