Description: Views of the Botanic Garden, Wellington showing some of the notable early tree plantings of the 1870s and 1880s. Buildings on the Observatory Reserve, the nursery, and the mess rooms are recorded. There are views of specific parts of the garden such as Magpie Lawn and the Herb Garden. There are views of some of the well known vistas, and views of the garden from positions outside it such as Garden Road and Hill Street. Arrangement: Slides at PA12-1787 to PA12-1790 Those photographs dating from 1972 and 1973 were taken when Walter Cook worked in the Botanic Garden. Both rockery constructions were projects he worked on. The rest were taken as a result of his work on the history of the Botanic Garden with Winsome Shepherd.
