Description: Articles and reminiscences written by McKenzie describing life in Wellington and the early settlement of New Zealand, including visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall in 1901. Also letters to the editor of New Zealand Times, undated Includes `Voyage of ship Adelaide' (an account with many crossings out), includes 2 leaves of passenger names; short account of the Tory, 1839; short account of the Cuba, 1839 with list of passengers; list of passengers by Aurora, Oriental, Duke of Roxburgh, Bengal Merchant - all with short accounts; accounts entitled `Fire at the Hutt, 25 May 1840', `The earthquake', `The flood, 7 March 1840'. Also includes facsimile copy (possibly photomechanical print reproduction from late 19 Century) of a letter from Commander James Cook to John Walker of Whitby. Walker was James Cook's first employer, and for whom he served his apprenticeship. Letter is dated 20 Nov 1772 from the Cape of Good Hope.
