Description

Three settlers felling timber. Two are working with axes at the trunk of a rata, centre right, while a third is resting in the left foreground. There are large tree-ferns and several nikau in the clearing beyond the men, with tree trunks piled up and native bush around the edges of the view. Mount Taranaki can be seen in the background
