- Description
Shows a view looking from the water, at a coastline, with six sailing ships on the right, at anchor off an indented coast. The largest central vessel with three masts and an aftermast is probably the Iris. Amongst the sailing ships is a steam-tug, probably the 'Premier', heading towards the shore. Two small rowboats are pulled up on the water's edge, beside houses under the trees.
Numerical inscriptions were made by an Auckland conservator in 1999.
The Iris and other vessels were present at Keppel Bay to deal with an insurrections of miners near Rockhampton at the new goldfield of Canuna, part of the Mt Morgan goldmine
