Photographs include an image of the Akaroa Heads (with a canoe in the harbour); a group of [Fijian?] men dressed in traditional dress, holding wooden poles manipulating rocks in the ground, as a part of a demonstration circa 1900s; a plan of an unknown pā; and an image of Thompson taken by [Elizabeth] Pulman, and another of an unknown Māori man (both images are branded by the New Zealand Government Tourist Department). Description: 1. Akaroa Head. 2. Flat Point. 3. Cape Saunders. All are shown in plan and profile view, with contours and slope of the hill taken into account. Formerly attributed by the Library to Charles Heaphy, on the basis of their similarity to line lithographs by Heaphy of Maori pa, geographical and geological features located at B-043-015 and B-043-016. However Heaphy never visited the sites depicted on Blackett's views, nor was he involved in the locating of lighthouses. These lithographs were published in the Appendices to the Journals of the House of Representatives in 1875 as part of Blackett's report on lighthouses around New Zealand's shores Quantity: 3 b&w art print(s).
