Ticket office in the city terminus of the Kelburn cable car Wellington, New Zealand. A woman carying a bag is shown at the turnstile barrier. Photographed by an Evening Post staff photographer on the 9th of June 1956.
Caption - Original caption reads: "Automatic machines instead of the present cumbersome turnstile barrier to and from the cable car, has been suggested as a way to speed up the flow of passengers."

Tickets for the cable car are purchased at the city terminus off Lambton Quay, Wellington. This photograph was taken when automatic machines were being considered as an alternative to the turnstile barrier.
