Lydia in her garden at Carlyle Street, Napier, circa 1889, photographed by her husband William Williams.
Exhibited in 'Lydia' photographic exhibition held 17 July - 25 September in 1993, first floor foyer, National Library. Showed images of Lydia Myrtle Williams, wife of the photographer William Williams.
Perhaps with the evening's dessert in mind, Lydia picks gooseberries from the garden, ca 1889. Now at a more established phase, peas, fig and peach trees and flowering lilium regale can be identified. Napier's Hospital Hill can be seen in the background. (Caption taken from the `Lydia' exhibition)
