The tin trunk is black and has a hinged lid. The initials K.M.M. are painted in white on the lid.
Purely from the initials on the lid, it is possible that the trunk belonged to Katherine Middleton Murry (John Middleton Murry's daughter) rather than to Katherine Mansfield. Alternatively it may have been labelled with the married initials of Katherine Mansfield, after her death, to indicate that material relating to her was stored therein.
The hair mentioned in the label inscription is now stored at Curios-018-1-012.
