Shows a full-length double portrait of two young Maori men, Heke at the left in a sailor's hat, a feathered cloak, a cape, white trousers, and bare feet. He holds a rifle in his right hand, with the butt resting on the ground. Patuone at the right wears a long white robe or tunic, partially covered with a short cape.
