Description

Ihakara Tukumaru, principal chief of Ngati Raukawa, signs the deed of cession of the Rangitikei-Manawatu Block at Parewanui, in July 1866. Walter Buller, who negotiated the purchase on behalf of the Wellington Provincial Government, stands as witness at left. Photographer unidentified.
