Contains cosmological notes about Rangi and Papa, the children of Rangi and Papa, the separation of Rangi and Papa, the creation of women, the flight of Hine-nui-te-po and the death of Maui, notes about the divine origins of various items and practices, and the various activities of the children of Rangi and Papa
Also contains notes about conflicts involving Manaia at Hawaiki, and a subsequent flight to New Zealand and further fighting in New Zealand
There are notes about 18th and 19th century conflicts involving Wairarapa hapu, including waiata, and subsequent peace-making in the face of external invasion; there is also a `genealogy' of whare wananga
