The cartoon has two images. The first is of a bull, Ferdinand (Taranaki), throwing a Counties player on top of Mount Taranaki. The second shows a ladder, representing the national championship, with a magpie, Hawkeye (Hawkes Bay), sprawled out at th bottom. On top is a Wellington rugby player saying to himself, A clear winner! and a supporter is saying, champ! Refers to the national championship rugby table.
