Cattle grazing near Evans Bay with Lyall Bay to the right and the Miramar peninsula in the distance. The homestead visible next to Evans Bay is probably that of the Crawfords. Photographer unidentified.
"Miramar estate, about 1550 acres in extent, comprising the whole of the isthmus on the south and the peninsula on the east of Evans Bay, is the property of Messrs Henry and Alexander Crawford. The homestead is at the south-eastern corner of the bay about 6 miles from Wellington." From The Cyclopedia of New Zealand Vol 1 p.805
