Description

A dramatic moonlit view among palm trees of the Endeavour's butcher (Henry Jeffs) holding a curved knife and about to cut the throat of a Tahitian woman. Her husband, Tepau i Ahurai Tamaiti, is standing on the right, waving his arms, an axe at his feet. On the far right, Joseph Banks in full uniform is intervening, sword in hand, to prevent the attack.
