Description

Volume One comprises chapters one to eighteen. Includes commentary on Markham's entrance into the Navy, genealogical details of the Seymour family, list of officers, illustrations of signal flags, plan sketches of the HMS Collingwood, sketches of sleeping and eating arrangements. Memoir details ports and places visited which includes Palma on the island of Majorca, Rio de Janeiro, Valparaiso, Lima, Callao, Tahiti and Honolulu.

Also tipped into the volume are examples of personal correspondence and a newspaper cutting from `The Observer' illustrating Nelson's signal (1908).
