Description

Shows Prime Minister, Sid Holland, standing with another man looking at a display in a music shop window. In the front of the window sits a little dog with the head of Jack Watts, Minister of Social Security, listening to the sound from a large horn as in the 'His Master's Voice' symbol. On the base of the horn are the words 'Board of Trade Mark'. Strung across the back of the display are a number of records with names like 'Tales from the Kawerau Woods', 'Excerpts from Sullivan', (William Sullivan, Minister of Labour), 'Marshall airs', (John Marshall, Member of Executive Council), 'Overture to Town Housing' etc. Refers to the comment made by the President of the National Party that National policy will take the form of a programme of works plus a very good record (play on the word 'record'. Sidney Holland is pleased, especially with the doggie in the window (reference to popular song of the time, 'How much is that doggie in the window?'.
