'The Politician' cartoon strip. In October 2004 it was revealed that New Zealand member of parliament John Tamihere accepted a golden handshake of $195,00 from the Waipareira Trust. It resulted in controversy as allegations of tax evasion surfaced. During the 2000 election campaign he had also said that he would not accept it.
