Poi dancers, circa 1910. Shows a group of Maori women wearing seaweed piupiu and holding poi. One woman wears a sash bearing the word 'Matatua', so the group is likely to have come from the Whakatane area. A man in the background holds an accordion. Possibly taken at Parihaka.
Source of descriptive information - Information relating to Parihaka is from an unidentified source. Seaweed piupiu identified by Library client who also provided information regarding Matatua and Whakatane district.
