Row of locomotives outside the Hutt Railway Workshops. They have been identified as "Ab" class, "WAb" class, and "X" class locomotives. The "Ab" class engine is no. 727. Photograph taken by Albert Percy Godber.
"Ab" 727 was built by North British (Maker's no 22876/21), went into service in May 1922, and was written off in July 1968. See "Register of New Zealand Railways steam locomotives, 1863-1971" by W G Lloyd.
