Photograph of a cartoon titled `In the hollow of his hands; frenzied folk in the frisky fireman's fateful fingers' by an unidentified artist. It was published in NZ Truth on the 18th of January, 1919 and depicts a United Steam Ship Company fireman holding the travelling public and the USS Company in his hands. The caption below reads " New Zealand at the present time is being vastly inconvenienced by the trouble the USS Company is having with its firemen who seem to have the `octopus' on toast. Unless the Government wakes up and `takes steps', the sorry business may develop into something of a more serious nature."
