Description

Goyder records a survey of the Northern Territory including the site of what was to be Darwin, the capital; inclduded in the parter were Woods, McLachlan, Smith, Mitchell, Haarvey, McMinn (surveyors) and Thomas Knuckey, King, Daly and Mills (assistants). The party set off from Port Adelaide in the `Moonta', a full-rigged ship, 23 Dec 1868. Goyder describes the terrain, weather, personalities and other aspects of the survey.
