Description: Photographs from three expeditions in the Homer area, between the Upper Hollyford Valley and the Cleddau Valley, December 1943-January 1944; December 1944-January 1945; and the Homer Tunnel Museum Expedition in February 1946, all taken by John Tenison Salmon. Many of the photographs are landscapes, but others show native plants growing in the area. Two sequences show the damage caused by avalanches, one showing damage to bush and to a bridge in 1944; the others show damage from a major avalanche which buried the eastern portal of the Homer Tunnel which was under construction at the time (September 1945).
