Description

Contains cosmological information including accounts of the fetching of the wananga from Io, the divine origin of various items and practices, a list of children of Rangi and Papa, the origins of the universe, the separation of Rangi and Papa, and the twelve heavens and their inhabitants; also contains information about the practices associated with the whare wananga and karakia

Also contains a letter from S P Smith to Te Whatahoro stressing that Smith has not made any money from Polynesian ethnology, confirming receipt of material from Te Whatahoro, and inviting him to come and stay with Smith at New Plymouth

Enclosures - A 3 page letter written Tihema 29 1910, addressed to H T Whatahoro from Te Mete [Percy Smith?] is inserted in the beginning of book

Other - The book is stamped with the seal `Paremata o te iwi Maori o Aotearoa me Te Waipounamu = Parliament of the Maori tribes of the North and South Islands of New Zealand'
