Description

The last New Zealand front line before Le Quesnoy, France, shortly before the Armistice. Photograph taken by Henry Armytage Sanders in 1918.

This is a view of the embanked road between between Beaudignies and Le Quesnoy at a place called "Linden" (or "tilleul" in French). This referred to a house nearby with a linden or lime tree in it's garden about three km from Le Quesnoy.

Source of descriptive information - Franck Bruyere, a citizen of Le Quesnoy, identified the road, and the location as "Linden." May 2008.
