Description

Folder comprises personal papers relating to Johnson. Includes two versions of his last will and testament (1886, 1904); discharge certificate from the 48th Regiment of New York Volunteers, aged 18 years due to disabilty (1865); memorandum of agreement between Johnson and the owner of the vessel `Sir William Wallace' for Johnson to be bound as a midshipman for three voyages (1867); American pension certificate for Johnson's wife, Mary Anne Johnson (1905); correspondence to Johnson from George Hadden, 3rd Officer aboard the steamer `Chimborazo' (1879); and a letter to Mrs Duncan from Jack Churchouse identifying the paddle steamer the `Luna' in a photograph (1993).
