A former Commissioner of Police, Ken Burnside, and his wife Nancy inspect the ranks of the 72 police cadets at a ceremony in Upper Hutt. Photographed by Evening Post staff photographer Ross Giblin 13 December 1979.

Mr and Mrs Burnside are the joint patrons of the graduating wing, the first wing to be named after the couple.
