Pamphlet pointing out the dangers of the introduction of off-course totalisator betting shops - congestion, long queues, children gambling, a worse labour shortage, inevitably reduced dividends, temptation to gamble.
Date is estimated, based on the fact that a Royal Commission on gaming laws, appointed in 1946, recommended that provision should be made for legal off-course totalisator betting. The government held a referendum on this issue on 9 March 1949. A total of 623,625 votes was recorded, 424,219 in favour and 199,406 against.
