Photographs shows adults watching as children board a new Edison electric bus outside the Orange Hall in Hornby, Christchurch for free trip on the bus. Occasion was visit by Christchurch Tramway Board trip on the bus to mark new public transport route to Islington, Templeton and Hornby. Nearby man wheels his bicycle past. Photograph taken by Frederick Nelson Jones.
The electric motor bus used truck and Edison storage batteries supplied by Messrs A.H. Harris and Co. The body was built by Boon and Co. Ltd from designs supplied by the Christchurch Tramway Board (see The Press 3 June 1918 pg.4).
