Underpass under construction, Waikanae, circa 17 August 1966. Shows machinery working on a road beneath a railway bridge. Photograph taken by an unidentified photographer for the Evening Post.
Caption - "Through the underpass, over the bridge across the river and on into Waikanae - a motorist's view of the new subway travelling north. To the left is the triangular retaining wall responsible for much of the dealy, while on either side of the road are the massive concrete cylinders - 6ft in diamter and sunk to a depth of 70ft - supporting the 225ft deck." (Evening Post, 17 August 1966)
