Bettjeman, Fred, 1884-1987
Enginéer, soldier, farmer. Grew up on the West Coast. Fought at Gallipoli, returned to NZ and married Agnes (Nancy) (née McNab; 1885-1965). Put on to land in the Mangapurua area and worked many years developing it before the settlement was closed. See DNZB (Vol 4, 1921-1940, p59-60, B30)
