Wellington and Manawatu Railway Co. no 12, 2-8-0 type, coming around a bend towards the camera. Steep hills are on the right of the track, with a grassy slope on the left. Photograph taken by A P Godber
Ob class locomotive built by Baldwin Locomotive Works, Philadelphia for the Wellington and Manawatu Railway Company (maker's no 9021/88), as WMR no 12. At the end of 1908 the company was purchased by the Government, and it was renumbered NZR 'Ob' 456. Written off in September 1929.
