Description

Album of portraits of people known to Rev Frederick Thatcher, including Bishop Selwyn, Bishop Williams, Rev Richard Taylor, Maori chiefs and women, and a kiwi.

Many Maori names noted in pencil. Most identified names listed above, but some are not identified at all, and some are not legible.

The photographs were collected by Rev Frederick Thatcher while he was in New Zealand (1843-1868).

Provenance: Remained in the possession of the Thatcher family until the album was handed to Mrs Margaret Alington in May 1959 by Thatcher's granddaughter, Miss Margaret Thatcher. Letter from Miss Alington inserted in album.
