Caption - `Sledging into a high camp, Godley Glacier, Canterbury. Skiing in New Zealand is only beginning and great development lies ahead of this sport. Mountaineers are hampered in winter by soft snow. The intelligent use of skis could save much labour in winter ascents. The skier in this photograph is able to pull on a sledge a greater load than he could carry on his back.'
