Son of Arthur Edgar Gravenor Rhodes (1859-1922). ADC (Aide-de-camp) to General Sir Alexander Godley, commander, 1st NZEF from 1914-1916. Returned to NZ in 1919, and represented the Governor-General on the staff of the Prince of Wales during his tour of New Zealand in 1920.
