One of a series of panoramic views of the waterfront and Lambton Quay taken by W H W Davis ca 1866-1867. View taken from off-shore of the buildings along Lambton Quay with Brandon's Corner on far right. Houses in Wellington Terrace and beyond, and the Bolton Street Cemetery (on right) can be seen on the hill behind, with Tinakori Hill in the background. Identifiable premises on Lambton Quay are: T J Mountain; Edward Greaves Smith (Music Warehouse); Henry Owen; baker's shop; chemist & druggist; G Read; J Cook & Son. The Star Boating Club's shed can be seen on the waterfront.
Brandon's Corner later became know as Quinton's Corner
Inscriptions: Backing board verso - centre - "The Old Beach", Lambton Quay as Mr H R Curtis knew it (see special article by him). Beginning with Quinton's Corner (opp Govt Buildings) and opp Parliamentary Gates. W T Quinton lent this photo.
