Anglican church. Originally at the top of Emily Place (Point Britomart), foundation stone laid in 1841, consecrated in 1844, demolished in 1885. Replaced with the present building in Symonds Street, Auckland.

Description: A view looking to the northwest over St Pauls Church to North Head and Rangitoto. Labelled features include: St Patricks, Albert Street, Queen Street, Wesleyan Chapel, Shortland Street, Victoria Quadr., St Pauls [Church], Dr Philson, Princes Street, Site of Art Gallery, Armoury, Abercrombie Street, Wakefield Street, Albert Barracks (now Albert Park), 1863 soldiers' barracks, 1878 Auckland Grammar School, now Police Station. The annotations would seem to indicate a date of the late 1880s, as the Art Gallery was built about then. Another copy on sale at Bethunes, 16 April 2004, lot 440 is dated 1886. Description: Testimonial and address of appreciation signed by church wardens and parishioners in inlaid wooden case with hinged lid and mounted photographic print of St Paul's Church building in Auckland, presented to Reverend John Frederick Lloyd when he left Auckland to return to England in 1870. The illuminated manuscript and calligraphic address were created by T Hall, with signatures in ink by others, is on 9 leaves of parchment sewn together and framed in purple velvet. The case constructed of mottled kauri, rimu and other New Zealand timber by Anton Seuffert features a decorative inlaid design of a cross. A contemporary newspaper description of the item is published at: "The address to Archdeacon Lloyd", 'Daily Southern Cross', vol. 26, issue 3900, 21 February 1870, page 3. Title supplied by Library. Inscriptions: Recto - centre - To John Frederic Lloyd The Venerable Archdeacon of Waitemata and Minister of St. Paul's Church Auckland Quantity: 1 box(es).
