Description: Catalogues for auction of land, household furniture, medical and surgical instruments, pasted onto pages from `Record of labourers sent out from England - John Brogden & Sons, New Zealand Railways'. Two pages have nothing pasted on top and the following details are recorded: Name of labourer, where born, where engaged in England, name of ship they came on, date of sailing, date of arrival, port of arrival, amount of debt for promissory note. Labourers recorded on these pages came from Leamington on the `Charlotte Gladstone', 1872-1873 to Dunedin; and from Uxbridge on the `Forfarshire' in 1872-1873 to Wellington. Description: The log contains brief entries detailing the progress of the voyages to New Zealand on the `Forfarshire'. Entries cover the period 12 November 1872 to 25 February 1873. Source of title - Title transcribed from first page of mss Accompanying material - Accompanied by genealogical notes in an unknown hand on the Papps, Timms and Win families who resided in the Nelson district Papps was born in Wiltshire in 1848. In November 1872 he emigrated to New Zealand on the `Forfarshire', arriving in March 1873. Papps settled in Richmond and married Selina Timms in 1874.
