Thompson, Thomas John, 1814-1900

Son of George Forbes Thompson and Anna Catalina Plinck. Arrived in Nelson in 1842 on 'Lord Auckland'. He was a partner with J W Barnicoat in contracts for the surveys in Nelson and Wairau, and represented Waimea East in the Provincial Council, 1863-1869. In 1846 he married Sarah Hargreaves (1827-1913), who arrived on the `Lord Auckland' with her parents and siblings. The couple settled at Richmond and had 10 children (Dictionary of New Zealand biography / Scholefield Vol 2, p 381)
