Shows a view of the waterfront at Official Bay, from the water. The church of St Paul is shown on the skyline, and the home of Colonel Wynyard to the left, with a flag flying. The house at the centre is that of Willoughby Shortland, with Captain Rough's house slightly lower at the right.
Identification of the dwellings is from the website at Auckland City Libraries which holds a photographic copy of this work.
This view shows Wynyard's second house, formerly the home of Felton Mathew. Wynyard purchased the house in 1847. His first house, also in Parnell, is shown in the companion-piece to this view 'Auckland from Official Bay, 1846' (B-174-006)
