They were pasted on both sides of the page and divided into sections; General topics (six pages containing 27 verses), man (two pages containing 5 verses), nature (three pages containing 11 verses), New Zealand government (eight pages containing 33 verses), Facisim/Nazism/Franco (four pages containing 13 verses) and World War II (eight pages containing 13 verses). This is Curnow's intial working file for his selection for the first Whim Wham volume, `A Present for Hitler', which appeared at the end of 1940. Illustrations were commissioned by The Press in Christchurch and are mainly by Josephine Mayo. The book was given to Mrs Betty Curnow's son Tim in the 1960s.
