History of the descendants of James Strange Mucklejohn and his wife Catherine Mustard of Scotland who married at Halifax, and later settled on Prince Edward Island, Canada. James worked as a shipbuilder at Charlottetown. In 1856 J S Mucklejohn built the `Union' and after travelling to various parts of the world with his family they eventually arrived in NZ and settled at Big Omaha where he set up as a shipbuilder together with his sons. The name appears to have changed on Meiklejohn on arrival in NZ.
