No. 8 (numbered 6 on the print) shows the Rugged Islands close to Stewart Island, viewed from the sea looking south west and showing the proposed site for the lighthouse from several angles. In no. 9 (numbered 7 on the print) The Snares Islands are shown side-on and end-on. No. 10 (numbered 8 on the print) shows a plan view of Cape Puysegur and a profile view from inside Preservation Inlet
Formerly attributed by the Library to Charles Heaphy, on the basis of their similarity to line lithographs by Heaphy of Maori pa, geographical and geological features located at B-043-015 and B-043-016. Formerly located at B-043-015-10 (or B-043-015-j). However Heaphy never visited the sites depicted on Blackett's views, nor was he involved in the locating of lighthouses. These lithographs were published in the Appendices to the Journals of the House of Representatives in 1875 as part of Blackett's report on lighthouses around New Zealand's shores
