Tainui waka have many iwi and marae situated throughout the Waikato region, other regions such as Auckland, the Hauraki Gulf and Kapiti and also around the world such as Sydney. Some marae are shared by different iwi and hapuu of Tainui and include Te Aakau, Waikaaretu, Te Poho o Tanikena and Poihaakena.
