Description

An illustrated poster apparently celebrating a year of the benign leadership of David Lange as Prime Minister.

Shows a double portrait of prime minister David Lange, as both Madonna and Christ Child. The Madonna pose is similar to that of the Mona Lisa, while the composition recalls portraits by Raphael, with outdoor background of Wellington Heads, Pencarrow lighthouse and the Beehive.

This image appeared in the Listener, 27 July 1985, entitled "Mona Lange". See also Hodgson's "Political cartoons" (1986), page 13.
